Effects of Herbaspirillum sp. p5-19 assisted with alien soil improvement on the phytoremediation of copper tailings by Vetiveria zizanioides L.

Microbial assisted phytoremediation and reclamation are both potential contaminated soil remediation technologies, but little is known about the combined application of two technologies on real soils. This study investigated Herbaspirillum sp. p5-19 (p5-19) with alien improvement improving stress tolerance enhancing accumulation Mn, Cu, Zn, Cd by Vetiveria zizanioides L. in copper tailings. Phytoremediation was evaluated plant biomass ability plants to absorb transfer heavy metals. Results showed that increased 19.64–173.81% inoculation treatments without compared control. Meanwhile, photosynthetic pigment contents were enhanced co-inoculation treatment (p5-19 improvement). In addition, malondialdehyde (MDA) content decreased, activities antioxidant enzymes such as ascorbate peroxidase (APX), superoxide dismutase (SOD), (POD), catalase (CAT) treatment, thereby alleviating oxidative stress. Moreover, significantly (p < 0.05) concentrations roots shoots V. zizanioides. particular, highest (roots) obtained covering 10 cm which 4.44- (2.71-), 4.73- (3.87-), 5.93- (4.35-) fold controls, respectively.
